No Doubt: The Complete History

No Doubt: The Complete History is a complete and totally honest look at the life and career of one of the biggest bands in popular music today. From their musical but turbulent beginnings, dealing with the death of original lead singer John Spence and the loss of founding member Eric Stefani, to their meteoric rise to fame, No Doubt: The Complete History unflinchingly covers it all. We’ll raid the VH1 and MTV archives for interviews and footage that look back at the band’s successes with number one hits, multi-platinum selling albums, ground-breaking videos, Grammy wins etc. And how they have triumphed over the adversity of trying to introduce their unique style of music in a grunge infused world.

Over the course of the show, we’ll look back with respect for their accomplishments, appreciation for their one of a kind style and sensitivity for their human frailties. We’ll track the bands evolution from their albums No Doubt to Rock Steady, delving into the recording process, producers they’ve worked with, video’s they’ve made, tours they have been a part of and television appearances, as well as the bands relationships and how they have grown.

No Doubt: The Complete History will conclude with an in depth look at the latest chapter in the bands unprecedented career and what their plans are for the future. We will get all the specifics on the new projects, find out who the key players are, and what inspired Gwen to do a solo album as well as launch her own clothing line.

Where, when and how did it all start? What happened along the way? What does the future hold? It’s all here in VH1’s 1 hour special, No Doubt: The Complete History.

Be sure to watch this special on VH1, Monday, March 1st at 1/12c PM, 10/9c PM and March 2nd at 3/2c PM.

Gwen Stefani Feeling Hella Good About Role In Scorsese Flick

No Doubt singer thrilled by small yet significant part in Howard Hughes biopic.

Gwen Stefani may have good reason to attend next year's Academy Awards — her first film, the Howard Hughes biopic "The Aviator," just might be up for a few trophies. And while the No Doubt singer and imminent solo artist doesn't have many lines in her role as Jean Harlow, she's excited just to have been cast in the film.

" I've been trying out for movies for years," she said. "Because it all comes from the same place, all the creative things inside you, and I've wanted to do it for a long time. But when you're touring and writing and busy, you can't compete with some of these actresses that are like, that's what they do every day. But that's one of the reasons we took a year off. I wanted to do a film."

Stefani said a picture that late celebrity photographer Herb Ritts took of her for the cover of Teen Vogue helped her land the role. She didn't realize at the time that Ritts was ill (see "Photographer/ Video Director Herb Ritts Dies At Age 50") and had a playful shoot with him based loosely on iconic photographs of Marilyn Monroe at the beach.

"It was like a dream come true," Stefani said. "He is so elaborate, I felt like I was doing a movie. My girlfriend Sophie Muller, who does a lot of our videos, happened to be with me and documented the whole thing."

You can download the clip here or go to the Audio/Video Section. :D

I will try and update a little more, but with school and midterms and all, it is very tough to find the time. I will try though! :)

Lots of News

First of all, I would just like to let you know that JSKOG will be moving soon. Amy is shutting down her domain, so I am must find a new home. Thanks to Amy for hosting me! I will put up the new URL when I find out what it will be. The new URL is http://suspicious-minds.org/nxd. Thanks to Angela for hosting another one of my sites! :)

Now on to No Doubt news!

Adrian is getting in on the bag business!

The new Zildjian Artist Collection Drumstick Bags make their debut with the Travis Barker and Adrian Young models. Adrian Young Drumstick Bag features a distinctive red/blue/yellow/white plaid pattern, which Adrian has been known to wear on stage. Visual enhancements include reflective piping, red hardware, large screened Adrian logo in red on the backside and high quality yellow Zildjian and red Adrian Young logo patches to match the plaid pattern. Adrian has recently been on tour with 80’s band sensation, Bow Wow Wow and, with fellow band mates, released No Doubt’s Greatest Hits CD.

Gwen's Solo Album

Don't speak. she knows what you're thinking: If Gwen Stefani is currently recording her first solo album, that means No Doubt is no more, right? "We're taking a break," says Stefani, sighing patiently. "But we are definetly not breaking up." Fact is, after 17 years of mixing punk, ska, and pop, Stefani is now more creatively attuned to Footloose than Fishbone. "I wanted to make an '80s dance record," she says, "I wanted fake drumbeats, a Salt 'N' Pepa kind of sound, I couldn't do that with No Doubt," The result, tentatively titled What You Waiting For?, is one of 2004's most anticipated CDs. So far, Stefani has recorded "a bunch of stuff" with R&B producer Dallas Austin, Neptune Pharrell Williams, and Pink collaborator Linda Perry. "[She] actually put me in a headlock at the Grammys and was like, 'We have to do something together!" says Stefani. It might take similar cajoling to get the busy singer focused. What with a new clothing line (called Lamb), a movie role (as Jean Harlow in Martin Scorsese's upcoming The Aviator), and a marriage (to Bush's Gavin Rossdale), Stefani hasn't found a whole lot of time to write new tunes. " I have this fantasy that my album will be out this summer," she says with a laugh. "Put that out there, and maybe it will force me to make it happen," Okay, the album's out this summer. Now, what you waiting for?
